Biography

Blake Gibson is a multimedia artist whose work has been exhibited throughout the United States, including California, New Jersey, Ohio, New Mexico, Georgia, and South Carolina. Some awards and achievements include: Artist Residency, Kala Art Institute, 2010; Publication in Manifest International Drawing Annual 5, 2010; Purchase Award for Ink & Clay 35, annual juried exhibition, California State Polytechnic University, 2009; and the Friends of Art Prize at the Annual Juried Graduate Student Exhibition at the University of New Mexico, 2003. In the fall of 2010 Gibson's work will be exhibited at Art Interview's 3rd Biennale in Berlin, Germany. In 2002 Gibson was selected for Land Arts of the American West, an interdisciplinary field program funded by the Lannan Foundation. His work is featured in the book, Land Arts of the American West, published by University of Texas Press in 2009.

Blake Gibson was born in Taylors, South Carolina. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Mexico in 2005 and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Carolina in 1995. He currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.
